Super games for all

From March 30 to April 8, 2001, a unique and exciting sporting event will be staged on Christchurch, New Zealand, involving personnel from the armed services, emergency services and law enforcement agencies of the world.

Supergames 2001 will bring together uniformed and civilian staff from navy, army, air force, police, fire, customs and prison officers to contest the 70-plus sports on offer.

All personnel from above are eligible to enter, provided they have been or are: currently employed by any of the above services, retired due to age or health reasons, or previously employed for a period of five years or more with any of the above.

Events to be contested include the traditional track and field, cycling and swimming, plus shooting and golf, with new events such as angling, chess, flying, orienteering, paintball, petanque, powerplay, scuba and supersport. Team games including basketball, cricket, hockey, rugby 15s and 7s, rugby league, soccer, softball, touch and volleyball are also being offered.
