for CAIRNS team

The victorious HMAS CAIRNS team with the inaugural
'Ship to Ship' trophy and BRISBANE team captain POPT Nick Davies
looking on in despair.

The stakes were high when an eight-man team from HMAS CAIRNS took on the
visiting HMAS BRISBANE team in a best of three games pool knockout on Monday,
October 31 at the Trinity Tavern.
After a three-month 'up-top' deployment, HMAS BRISBANE showed signs of weariness
early on, with the CAIRNS lads only suffering two defeats in the first round.
The BRISBANE team was eventually worn down, leaving two CAIRNS personnel
to battle it out in the final.
LS Warren Bath displayed some tactical plays to defeat former POPT Alec
Payne to claim the grand final spoils.
HMAS CAIRNS also won the overall challenge to take the inaugural 'Ship to
Ship' pool competition trophy, and now look forward to future competition
against visiting naval ships.
