No medal for Army centenary

November 27, 2000

Following discussion of a medal being struck to celebrate the centenary of the Army, it has been decided to not implement the idea after much consideration.

The decision was made in line with the principles laid down by the report of the Committee of Inquiry into Defence and Related Awards 1994, where it states that normal service in the Defence Force does not, in its own right, warrant a medal.

Therefore, there will be no medal struck to celebrate the centenary of the Army.
