Serious about fitness

November 27, 2000

HMAS ANZAC is taking the leap ahead in being able to fight and win in the maritime environment.

The ship's newly renovated gymnasium has been fitted with new cardio vascular equipment including treadmills, steppers and bikes.

On top of this, the ANZAC personnel also have free weights, cable weight equipment and a boxing regime in place to keep them busy.

This initiative is seen by the personnel on board as a positive step to improving not only their fitness but also their morale and self confidence.

The upgrading of the gym has meant that personnel on board have now got the equipment available to keep themselves fit in line with the RAN's new fitness policy.

The gymnasium has seen a steady stream of users since it's re-opening and has been receiving alot of favourable comments from the ship's company.

In the hectic environment of sea life, the new gymnasium has given the personnel a release from the daily rigours involved in keeping a professional navy afloat.
