CN's conference to
provide an overview

August 7, 2000

Four hundred delegates will attend the Chief of Navy Leadership Conference in Canberra from August 30 to September 1.

Aim of the conference is to provide an overview of all that Navy has achieved in the last 12 months, the ongoing activities that will continue to reinvigorate and CN's goals for the next year.

All areas of Defence employing Navy personnel were given a number of places and were asked to select delegates from civilian and Service staff (Leading Seaman to Admiral, both ANR and PNF and civilian equivalents) with the aim of achieving a full representation of all Navy's people in attendance.

The conference will include presentations and plenary sessions. The focus on day one will be on reporting the activities and achievements of the past year.

Day two will discuss why we have a Navy, our people - with a plenary session on people - and why we have moved to the new structure.

Day three will focus on the way ahead including plans Blue and Green, FEGs, and CN's priorities for the next 12 months.

The Minister for Defence, Mr John Moore, has been invited to the conference and the Secretary of Defence, Dr Allan Hawke, will be the Keynote speaker on day two. A guest CEO has been invited to speak on day three.

Highlights of the conference will be published in later issues of Navy News, Scuttlebutt and Sea Talk and copies of presentations will be distributed on CD to all areas of Navy.
