Silver Lining to Volleyball

The ADF volleyball team went down to Macao National Youth team 3-nil during Darwin's Arafura Games to come away with silver .

SBLT Kim Rackemann, MHQ, and MIDN Amy Lemon, (HMAS CANBERRA) and SBLT Kirsty Newcomb were part of the 12 member team.

Kirsty is no stranger to the game, "Dad was Australian captain during the 70s and 80s and my brother is vice-captain of the Australian Olympic team." she said.

Between being airborne Darwin based Kirsty is a watchkeeping officer aboard the Fremantle Class patrol boat HMAS LAUNCESTON.

Coach of the ADF team MAJ Jenny Becker said "Kirsty performed very well especially as it was her first appearance in the nationals. She has a bright future with her high degree of skills and play."
