HMAS ALBATROSS has again won the 1999 Jubilee Shield hockey knockout.

ALBATROSS, the reigning champion, proved too strong for the only fleet team in this year's competition, HMAS HOBART, winning 3-nil.

The shield was contested by five teams, PENGUIN Pirates, KUTTABUL Barbarians, MANOORA/KANIMBLA and finalists HOBART and ALBATROSS at the newly-constructed State Sports Centre in Sydney.

A round-robin format was used which meant that each team played at least four matches.

HOBART, led by LSPT Andrew Cross, looked the team to beat after the first two rounds.

But ALBATROSS, which included a number of inter-service players, had other ideas.

With the preliminaries out of the way 'TROSS and HOBART met in the final with the former showing better ball display throughout.

After only a few minutes ALBATROSS had scored its first goal and then added another just before half time.

'TROSS then clinched the trophy by scoring again within minutes of taking the field for the second half.

Although HOBART played well it just wasn't their day but they did manage to take home the Fox Plate.

Congratulations to all competitors and PT staff.
