HMAS ARUNTA (CMDR Greg Yorke) has been presented with a number of special items that belonged to HMAS ARUNTA I.

They now take pride of place in the ship.

The HMAS ARUNTA I Association has taken a special interest in the progress of ARUNTA II with many of its members making a special effort to visit the ship and present their own personal memories of HMAS ARUNTA, many of which date back to World War II.

The presentations have included the original ship's boat bells, HMAS ARUNTA war victory pennants, original tallybands, framed pieces of a tail rudder of the Kamikaze plane that attacked ARUNTA in 1944 and numerous plaques and diaries.

The ship was also presented with the original brass engine room clock, which still keeps excellent time and is a very valuable instrument.

A group of ex-HMAS ARUNTA stokers, led by Graham Bell and Mr Ian Buckle, officially handed over the clock to the current "tiff", CPOMT Schneidereit.

The presentation took place in the modern air-conditioned machinery control room of ARUNTA II which is a 'far cry' from the engine room of ARUNTA I.

Each of the original stokers took their turn in winding the original 1941 engine room clock, which is so accurate it is now used for time checks.
