NO REMAINS OF WWII AIRMEN LOCATED AT PNG SITE

SQNLDR Allan CALA - Air Force Specialist Reserve: When we first arrived there was of course a whole lot of debris from leaf litter, from trees that had obviously grown up over the years and of course there where multiple parts from the bomber scattered all over the wreckage site, covered by quite a bit of soil and leaf litter. We removed a lot of that leaf litter. Got down to the bare basic undisturbed earth and tried to see if there were any human remains. Unfortunately we haven't found any remains. At this stage all we have found is obviously aircraft artefacts and quite a lot of human artefacts. We have found a dental plate. We have found four dog tags. We have found a couple of watches. We have found three very rusty pistols and we have also found a pen by one of the wings.
