HMAS Tobruk sailors pause to remember AE1
A recent deployment to Rabaul, Papua New Guinea as part of Pacific Partnership 2010 allowed the ship’s company and embarked forces onboard HMAS Tobruk to remember the lost submariner’s of AE1. As the ship sailed near the last known position in the days leading up to the ninety-sixth anniversary a wreath was laid to honour the thirty five men, lost with all hands on 14 Spetember 1914.
The chance to honour the sailors so close to their last known position was a special event for the Australian Defence Force personnel onboard Tobruk.
