The 2010 Australian Military Medicine Association (AMMA) and Joint Health Command Symposium

The 2010 Australian Military Medicine Association (AMMA) and Joint Health Command Symposium was officially opened by Vice Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant General David Hurley.

The three day Symposium is the most important gathering of Australian health professionals who are involved in Military Medicine and Veterans’ Health in 2010.

Delegates from around the world attended the Symposium and shared in the latest advances associated with management of trauma in combat and disaster situations, as well as mental health and rehabilitation support.

"The last two decades have seen almost continuous activity in both active military and humanitarian activities around the world," Commander Joint Health, Major General Paul Alexander said.

"Issues arising have resulted in a greater awareness of military medicine in both military and civilian communities and have caused us to review our responses, actions and attitudes in all fields of military medicine."

The AMMA/JHC Symposium provided a forum that allowed experts to discuss their experiences and review their concepts and ideas.
