Freedom of the City parade through Pit Town
The strong links shared between the Hawkesbury community and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) have been exercised through a 'Freedom of the City' parade through Pitt Town. More than 250 personnel from RAAF Base Richmond carried out the military tradition, with 'Freedom of the City' being an honour granted to a military community from a civilian community. RAAF Base Richmond was formed at a local site known as 'Ham Common' on 1 July 1925, and Freedom of the City of Hawkesbury was granted to the base in 1990.
