MTF2 departs for MEAO
Service personnel and their families gathered at Darwin's Robertson Barracks to farewell a contingent of 1st Brigade soldiers bound for operations in Afghanistan. The majority of the personnel are deploying to serve in Uruzgan Province with the 2nd Mentoring Task Force, led by Darwin's 5th Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment. Commanding Officer of the 5th Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Darren Huxley addressed the troops prior to departing for the airport, reminding the soldiers and their loved ones that the group's mission was to support the Afghans in their fight for security and stability in their country.
