Governor of Victoria Professor David de Kretser welcomes AUSMIN delegates at Government House, Melbourne before United States Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen is invested as an Honorary Member in the Military Division of the Order of Australia.

Following the Investiture, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard hosted a dinner at Government House for the AUSMIN guests.

AUSMIN is the premier forum for strengthening the Australia-United States Alliance and is a key opportunity to discuss perspectives and approaches on major global and regional issues and to deepen bilateral cooperation.

AUSMIN is held on a reciprocal basis every year. 2010 marks its 25th anniversary as well as 70 years of formal diplomatic relations between Australia and the United States.
