4th Field Regiment march through Townsville

4th Field Regiment marched through the city of Townsville as part of the prestigious Freedom of Entry to the City parade - an ancient honour granting the privilege to march into the city ''swords drawn, bayonets fixed, bands playing and flags unfurled''.

It was the first time the historic honour had been granted for a Regiment in Townsville since 1987, before the city amalgamated, and was held on Saturday as part of the 4th Field Regiment's 50th anniversary celebrations.

Regiment commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Charles Weller said the parade was a rare privilege to be bestowed upon a Regiment.
