Exercise Bersama Shield 75 Squadron

The Air Force Catering Officer with the 324 Combat Support Squadron at Butterworth Air Base, in Malaysia say his recipe for success provides plenty of 'food for thought' for throngs of hungry ADF personnel.

Flight Sergeant Eddie Hassell's recipe for success is put to the test during the annual Five Power Defence Arrangement (FPDA) exercise such as Bersama Shield, when he and his staff are challenged to prepare more than 1200 quality meals per day.

Flight Sergeant Hassell and his staff includes one Air Force Corporal and 25 Local Employed Civilians, prepared at total of 21,600 meals throughout the exercise period of 18 days.

This is Flight Sergeants Hassell's second posting to the mess to 324 Support Squadron at Butterworth Air Base in Malaysia.

"I love it here so much I wish I could be posted to Butterworth for life," said Flight Sergeant Hassell, who calls Adelaide home, in Australia.

Flight Sergeant Hassell is one of more than 50 Air Force personnel posted to 324 CSS, who have provided important support to the ADF units involved in Exercise Bersama Shield 2010.
