Op AZURE Medal presentaion and Change of command ceremonies
In a small ceremony at the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Khartoum, Sudan, Australian personnel deployed to the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS), recognised the significant contribution that six ADF members have made to the UN during their six month deployment.
During the ceremony attended by Canadian, German and New Zealand representatives, as well as the incumbent members of Australian Contingent 11 (ASC11), Lieutenant Colonel Taylor presented members of ASC10 their medals.
Staff Officer Squadron Leader Jason Burstow, Warrant Officer Class 2 Mark Testi and Sergeants Peter Spiranac and Bradley Sellwood received the Australian Service Medal and the United Nations Medal for service. Lieutenant Colonel Taylor also presented Major Graham Bell and Squadron Leader John Herrmann with the Sudan clasp to the Australian Service Medal in addition to the United Nations Medal for service.
