The ship's company of HMAS Parramatta farewelled family and friends at Fleet Base East, Garden Island, upon their departure to the Middle East Area of Operation. The ship will deploy for six months as a part of Operation Slipper, the Australian Defence Force contribution to the international campaign against terrorism, countering pricay in the Gulf of Aden and maritime security.
