Australian Service Medal presentation ceremony in Sudan

In a small and solemn dawn ceremony held on 02 March 2010 at the Commonwealth War Cemetery, Khartoum, Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Taylor, Commander of the Australian Contingent for the ADF contribution to the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS), recognised the significant contribution that two ADF members have made, as members of the National Support Element (NSE) 3, to Op AZURE during their six month deployment.

During the ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Taylor presented Squadron Leader John Rodriguez, with the Sudan clasp to the Australian Service Medal and the Australian Service Medal and Sudan clasp to Sergeant Michelle Browne for their dedicated service on Op AZURE.

Members of the current contingent including the incoming members of NSE4 were also there to hear Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Taylor congratulate and thank the outgoing Air Force members on making a meaningful and vital contribution to Op AZURE. He also recognised SQNLDR Rodriguez and SGT Browne for a job well done in what have been challenging and, sometimes, testing circumstances. Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Taylor wished them a safe and speedy return to Australia and to their family and friends.
