Changing of the guard at No. 37 Squadron

Wing Commander Matt Hegarty has handed over command of No. 37 Squadron at RAAF Base Richmond to Wing Commander Mark McCallum. Wing Commander Hegarty has been Commanding Officer since September 2007, but had originally arrived at the Squadron after completing his pilot training in 1992. Much of his Air Force career to date has been spent supporting RAAF C-130 capability in a number of units at RAAF Base Richmond. No. 37 Squadron is responsible for Australia’s C-130 Hercules operations, is one of the Air Force’s busiest units, with almost 600 people on strength. It routinely supports Australian Defence Force operations around Australia and across the globe.
