45th Birthday Celebrations for 6th Battalion

Around 300 soldiers of the 1st Mentoring Task Force based in Tarin Kowt participated in 45th Birthday celebrations for the 6th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment on 6 June 2010.

The soldiers, many of whom were at the Multinational Base in Tarin Kowt for leave rotations, joined in activities including volleyball, an obstacle course and tug of war with teams from the Netherlands and Slovakia.

The 45th Birthday celebrations also marked the unveiling of a recent addition to the Australian memorial at the base, a bronze statue of a modern day digger, which was donated by a company called Naked Army.

The donation of the statue was coordinated by the former RSM of the 2nd Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force, WO1 Darren Murch.
