Australia Day Melbourne

The Australian Defence Force supports Melbourne’s Australia Day National Flag Raising Ceremony with stirring pageantry and high tech military aviation.

A Royal Guard of Honour and Flag Raisers consisted of 104 sailors, soldiers and airmen drawn from the HMAS Cerberus Engineering Faculty and the Defence Force School of Signals. The Royal Australian Navy Band - Melbourne Detachment provided musical support.

A fly-over the Shrine of Remembrance by an RAAF F/A-18 Hornet jet aircraft from No. 3 Squadron, RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW, acknowledges Australia Day by conducting the fly-over across the City of Melbourne.

At midday, a 21-gun salute from the Shrine fired by four 105mm howitzers from 2nd/10th Field Regiment.
