ADF members deployed overseas vote for the upcoming election

The Australian Defence Force has over 3000 members currently on deployment overseas and for them, the very important task of voting in the federal election is a job that needs to be done.

There are three ways in which deployed personnel can cast their votes - at an Australian embassy, via a general postal vote or by having an approved Assistant Returning Officer come to them with a Deployed Polling Booth.

To keep the process as smooth as possible, Defence Personnel are trained and authorised as Assistant Returning Officers by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) and then operate polling booths in deployed locations.
