Ipswich 150 Year Street Parade
In 2010 Ipswich celebrates the 150th anniversary of being proclaimed a municipality. RAAF Base Amberley involvement in the Ipswich 150 celebrations gives the community a close-up of Defence capability and provides an opportunity for RAAF members to showcase their pride and skills before a highly appreciative audience. Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale said the city had enjoyed nearly 70 years of association with RAAF Base Amberley and this grew stronger with each passing year. The close relationship between Air Force and the people of Ipswich is further developed through on-going engagement with the community across a number of activities and forums.
RAAF Base Amberley is one of the largest operational bases in the Air Force, employing approximately 3000 ADF and civilian personnel and accounting for about 10, 000 of the Ipswich and Brisbane district’s population, when dependents are included.
