Defence Indigenous Development Program

Young indigenous men from remote areas across the Northern Territory and Kimberley regions are preparing for their seven-month journey to graduation on the 2010 Defence Indigenous Development Program (DIDP) with an orientation phase at the Katherine Rural College where trainees will be settling into living away from home.

Through a culturally sensitive military structured training environment, the recruits and soldiers have come together for the three week phase to assist their integration into the program’s military and tertiary study environments, while living away from the familiarities of family and country.
