Military Exercise in PNG visit the Area of Kerea

Forces Commander visit with Commander 3rd Brigade to Exercise Olgeta Warrior. Exercise Olgeta Warrior is a Forces Command scheduled activity with 3rd Brigade acting as the mounting authority.

During the visit the contingent met the local community in the vicinity of the Kerea school with local children coming out to meet the contingent with coloured scarves that they had made. They then moved down to where the jungle training was taking place and were briefed on the activity by Lieutenant Colonel Siale Diro, of 1 Royal Paciffic Island Regiment, before being taken to some of the stands.

The activities included tracking, raft building, fire making and traditional cooking. All visitors were treated to a feast of pork, chicken and vegetables, which was a highlight for many. After an informative and interesting visit to the jungle training, the contingent moved back to the Kerea school for a presentation of sporting equipment to the local village communities and a water tank facility for the school. The visiting contingent and Wantok Warrior participants were then provided with a BBQ lunch by army cooks.
