Army Participation in Blue September Cancer Awarness

The Chief of Army launched Army's participation in Blue September cancer awareness campaign. Having been personally affected by cancer, Lieutenant General Ken Gillespie knows first-hand the importance of early detection.

Lieutenant General Gillespie launched the Army’s support to the Blue September organisation at the Royal Military College on August 28 to raise awareness of cancer in men.

The Chief of Army volunteered to have his face daubed blue in the organisation’s signature mark to highlight the cancer message that blue is the colour for males.

He said the Army was largely populated by men and encouraged soldiers to ‘face up to cancer’.

"Take action and go see your GP. By finding cancer early, you have a better chance of beating the disease."
