Water Purification for the Karumba Community
Defence continues to provide personnel and equipment to ensure the supply of freshwater to the Karumba community in Northern Queensland.
The deployment is in response to a State Government request, through Emergency Management Australia, for Defence to provide an emergency (drinking quality) water supply to the Karumba Township.
The mobile water purification unit onsite has been pumping up to 400,000 litres of clean water per day. So far 8.4 megalitres of purified water have been supplied to the community.
