The Ships' Companies of HMAS SUCCESS and HMNZS TE MANA unite in a memorial service remembering the fallen at the Kranji War Cemetery in Singapore.
The cemetery is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The Memorial lists the names of 24,346 service personal who died in Malaya and Indonesia, and also have no known grave. Many died during the construction of the Thai-Burma Railway, or at sea while being transported to captivity elsewhere.
HMA Ships SUCCESS and PIRIE are on deployment to South East Asia and will participate in the International Fleet Review 2009 in Qingdao, China. The ships will also participate in Exercise BERSAMA SHIELD in the South China Sea.
