Heavy plant equipment arrives on the scene

A Victorian-based Joint Task Force has been established to coordinate Defence assets assisting the response to the Victorian bushfire emergency.

The Task Force Commander, Brigadier Mike Arnold has a total of 450 troops under his command.

A detachment of the Engineer Support Group is commanded by Captain Noel Tipton and consists of soldiers from 22 Construction Regiment, 4 Combat Engineer Regiment at Ringwood, the School of Armour at Puckapunyal and 4 Combat Services Support Battalion.

The heavy plant equipment, which includes five bulldozers, a front-end loader and a grader is being used to establish fire control lines between Broadford and Yea, north of Melbourne.
