Point Cook Primary School on the move after 86 years
Point Cook Primary School, established at RAAF Base Point Cook in 1923, is moving off base to help cater for the growing community in the local area.
The school, which accepts pupils from both Defence and civilian families, officially closed after 86 years on the base and classes will reopen on 1st February in a new school at Ponsford Drive in Point Cook.
The rapidly-expanding local community meant that Point Cook Primary School had reached the point when it needed to move off base to larger premises. Enrolments which now stand at 380 including 31 pupils from Defence families, will total 700 in February.
