Operation Azure – Australian Contingent In Sudan
The significant contribution that six ADF members have made as UN Military Observers (UNMO) during their six month deployment has been recognised at a ceremony held on 18 November 2009 at Australia House in Khartoum, Sudan.
Australian Contingent 9 (ASC9) UNMOs Major Brian Ardely, Lieutenant Katrina Gosper (RAN), Captains Peter Amaricai, Sharon Cord, Luke Hodda and Paul Manuel were all awarded an Australian Service Medal and the United Nations Medal for service.
They were presented by Commander of the Australian Contingent for the ADF contribution to UNMO Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Taylor.
The United Nations Medal is awarded to defence force and police members who have served at least 90 days service as part of the United Nations Mission In Sudan (UNMIS).
