Australian recovery team arrives in Papua New Guinea
Following a request from the Government of Papua New Guinea, Australia deployed ADF assets in an effort to assist in the search for the Airlines PNG aircraft that went missing enroute to Kokoda on Tuesday.
The C-130 Hercules reached PNG early this Wednesday having departed RAAF Base Richmond that morning.
The C-130 arrived with an aero-medical evacuation (AME) team, a six person Mobile Air Load Team, and members of an Australian Federal Police (AFP) Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team.
Two Australian Army Blackhawk helicopters were airlifted from RAAF Base Richmond by a C-17 Globemaster on Wednesday afternoon.
This incident follows the ADF assistance with the Tongan and New Zealand authorities in the search for the ferry MV Princess Ashika.
