Farewell Parade to soldiers- 1st Brigade Units Darwin

In the coming months, approximately 1400 soldiers from Darwin’s Robertson Barracks will deploy overseas. The soldiers, drawn from 1st Brigade’s units, will deploy as the 1st Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force (MRTF1), Timor Leste Battle Group 5 (TLBG5), Security Detachment 14 (SecDet 14) and the Force Communication Unit 1 (FCU1). The deployments will see the soldiers serving in Afghanistan, Iraq and Timor Leste.

Minister for Defence, the Hon. Joel Fitzgibbon MP, together with the Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, the Hon. Warren Snowdon and Chief of Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston have farewelled these soldiers as they leave Darwin and begin their overseas roles. This parade represents a rare opportunity to see so many 1st Brigade soldiers parading at one time.
