Official opening of the new 33 Squadron Headquarters and Hangar facility

The Federal Member for Blair, Mr Shayne Neumann, and Deputy Chief of Air Force, Air Vice-Marshal Geoff Brown officially opened the $51 million headquarters and hangar building for No. 33 Squadron at the RAAF Base Amberley.

The $51 million future home of the Air Force's Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft was officially opened on 29 August 2008.

The state-of-the-art hangar/headquarters is designed to support the KC-30B for the life of the aircraft. It includes a combined Squadron headquarters, maintenance complex and ground support equipment shelter.

It is part of a comprehensive upgrade of RAAF Base Amberley which will allow the base to effectively support heavy air lift capability in the form of the KC-30B and the C-17A Globemaster III.
