HMAS Perth Freedom of Entry March

HMAS Perth marches through the City of Perth, Western Australia, for their Freedom Of Entry march.

The right of Freedom of Entry dates back to medieval times and signifies mutual trust between a city and a military unit. Sailors and Officers will observe a centuries old military tradition that affords them the right to march through the city streets with swords drawn, drums beating, band playing and Colours flying.

This is Perth's first Freedom of Entry to her adopted city since commissioning in August 2006. The name Perth carries with it the proud histories of two former RAN warships. The Officers and Sailors of PERTH III look forward to building on the excellent reputations earned by their two previous namesakes.

Perth is the eighth and final Anzac Class (FFH) frigate to be built by Tenix for the RAN. The first steel for Perth was cut on 23 August 2000 and the keel was laid on 24 July 2003. Perth was launched by Ms Margaret Gee, daughter of Perth I survivor Allan Gee, on 20 March 2004. Perth was commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy on Saturday 26th August 2006.
