8 Brigade combined arms training activity

Queensland’s Wide Bay Training Area has seen units from Eight Brigade deploy on their annual Combined Arms Training Activity (CATA). The exercise maintained a high tempo where the High Readiness Reserves (HRR) deployed into the field to undertake live field fire Platoon size attack and ambushes while other Brigade units provided support tasks to the Infantry.

“CATA provides a good opportunity to exercise and assess the soldiers and officers of 8HRR Combat Team in their skills and knowledge while additionally enabling Brigade units to practice their core skills to HRR standards, so that the HRR is ready to provide the capability to the Army and Capability Bricks for overseas deployment,” said LT COL David Cochran OC 8CATA/CO 2/17 RNSWR.
