Exercise Aces North

More than 200 Air Force personnel, F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets, F-111 aircraft and other Australian Defence Force aircraft and personnel including a US Marine Corp Squadron are based at RAAF Bases Tindal and Darwin between November 7 and December 5 for Exercise Aces North.

The Exercise represents the last few weeks of Number 30 Fighter Combat Instructor (FCI) Course. The five month long Top Gun course is aimed at graduating new Fighter Combat Instructors and Controllers.

The Exercise is being conducted primarily in the Tindal airspace and over the Delamere Range Facility, with pilots participating in scenarios including air to air combat and air to ground bombing.
