Exercise Sapper Charge
Construction of Army’s new combat training facility at Wide Bay Training Area was completed thanks to the efforts of around 130 Sappers from Brisbane’s 2nd Combat Engineer Regiment.
The Wide Bay Training Area facility, near Gympie in Queensland, replicates a Forward Operating Base similar to those used in Afghanistan.
The Forward Operating Base is designed for training activities prior to overseas operations as well as general field training activities.
