Soldier of the future lunchtime briefing

28 May 2008

The Minister for Defence the Hon. Warren Snowdon MP hosted the 'soldier of the future' lunch-time briefing at Parliament House on 29 May 08. The lunch provided Parliamentarians with the opportunity to learn about the work being done by the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) and the Defence Materiel Organisation to develop rations and equipment for the Army's future soldiers.

Parliamentarians were able to sample the DSTO-developed dehydrated meals, which form part of Australian Army patrol rations, as well as view up close and personal some of the individual soldier equipment being developed under the LAND 125 project.

Also on display were the trial 'hot weather' rations being developed by DSTO, including the special non-melting chocolate.
