Funeral service for Lance Corporal Jason Marks

Lance Corporal Jason Marks, who was tragically killed in Afghanistan last week, was honoured in a funeral service held at Holsworthy Barracks yesterday evening.

Family, friends and colleagues of Lance Corporal Marks came together to pay their respects to the brave and dedicated soldier who will be remembered for his service and sacrifice.

Dignitaries on hand to pay tribute to the Commando were the Hon Kevin Rudd MP, Prime Minister of Australia; the Hon Dr Brendan Nelson MP, Leader of the Opposition; the Hon Joel Fitzgibbon MP, Minister for Defence; and the Hon Warren Snowdon MP, Minister for Defence Science and Personnel.

The Chief of Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston; the Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Peter Leahy; Special Operations Commander Australia, Major General Tim McOwan; and members of the 4th Battalion (Commando), The Royal Australian Regiment were also present.
