Penrith Chamber of Commerce members take aim at Army Reserve
14 March 2008
Penrith's Chamber of Commerce members handled rifles, hand grenades and other tools of the trade when they attended an Army Reserve open day recently.
The open day was staged by the Penrith-based 5 Combat Engineer Regiment to introduce the employers of Army Reservists to life as a part-time soldier.
The Commanding Officer of the 5th Combat Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Agnew, said the employers of Reservists are handsomely compensated when their part-time soldiers deploy on operations abroad.
He said the 5th Combat Engineer Regiment currently has a range of job opportunities as well as traineeships and apprenticeships for local people.
