Air Force marks 87th birthday at Martin Place
01 April 2008
March 31 marked the 87th anniversary of the Royal Australian Air Force.
Members of RAAF Base Richmond and former Air Force personnel attended the commemoration at the Cenotaph in Martin Place, Sydney.
The service which commenced at 1100hrs was conducted by Chaplain (Flight Lieutenant) Russel Avery and was well attended by the lunchtime crowd. The service commenced with the marching on of the Catafalque Party by the NSW Ambulance service band.
Various dignitaries and ex-service organisations laid wreaths in remembrance of the past 87 years of the Royal Australian Air Force.
