Exercise Northern Station 2007
25 September 2007
A vital component of Air Force training for operational readiness commenced in the Townsville High Range Training Area this week, with Exercise Northern Station 2007.
Townsville-based Group Captain Ron Irons described the exercise as "the final in a series of training activities for 2007 designed to progressively develop the operational readiness of 395 and 396 Expeditionary Combat Support Wing units".
"We'll establish an air base in a remote location and conduct missions which will test the skills of our personnel," Group Captain Irons said.
Approximately 300 personnel will participate in the exercise activities, the majority of which will occur at the High Range Training Area, 50 kilometres to Townsville's west.
