5 Aviation Regiment celebrated its 20th birthday with a parade at their barracks in Townsville on November 20.
The unit was formed on November 20, 1987 and during the parade the unit was presented with a unique honour no other Army Aviation unit has ever received previously.
It is now the first Army Aviation unit to be presented with a Guidon.
The special event was attended by the Governor General Maj-Gen Michael Jeffery, Defence Minister Brendan Nelson, Chief of Defence Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston and Chief of Army Lieutenant-General Peter Leahy.
