RTF soldier seriously wounded

An Australian soldier serving with the Reconstruction Task Force (RTF) was seriously wounded late yesterday evening (AEST), when a roadside bomb detonated in close proximity to him.

The wounded soldier, Sergeant Michael Lyddiard, is a qualified Explosive Ordnance Disposal operator.  He was involved in a route clearance task during Operation Spin Ghar in Afghanistan, when an improvised explosive device was discovered.
