HMAS Perth returns after North East Asian deployment

02 November 2007

Anzac Class frigate (FFH 157) HMAS Perth has returned to her home port of Fleet Base West after five months away on a North East Asian deployment.

HMAS Perth and HMAS Parramatta have returned from a goodwill tour throughout North East Asia, conducting important relations with neighbouring countries of Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Japan and Singapore.

HMAS Perth departed Fleet Base West in June after completing sea trials, followed by Operation RESOLUTE, Exercise Pacific Shield in Yokosuka Japan and the tour of North East Asia. HMAS Perth was in company with HMAS Parramatta for most of the trip.

Family and friends waited with excitement on the wharves under a straining blue ski, with the Royal Australian Navy Band playing in support.

With a busy program now completed over the past five months, the 170 sailors from HMAS Perth were full of smiles and hugs when greeted by their families.
