No. 114 Mobile Control and Reporting Unit deploys to Afghanistan
31 May 2007
A Royal Australian Air Force detachment of 75 personnel from the Darwin-based 114 Mobile Control and Reporting Unit (114 MCRU) has departed for Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan.
The detachment will provide continuous air surveillance of their assigned area and coordinate airspace management in that area.
A small advance party from RAAF Base Williamtown's 41 Wing is already in place in Afghanistan. The main group now deploying primarily comprises members of 114MCRU and personnel from Air Force’s Combat Support Group.
This deployment is another demonstration of advanced ADF capability that will make a significant contribution to the coalition effort in Afghanistan.
