Funeral of Trooper Joshua Porter

22 March 2007

Trooper Joshua Porter was farewelled with military honours at a private service at Toukley's St Mary's Church.

Trooper Porter was tragically killed when an Army Black Hawk helicopter sank in deep water off Fiji last November.

Trooper Porter's wife was joined by their large circle of family and friends. Many past and present members of the Perth-based Special Air Service Regiment and the 1st Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment, also attended the sevice, as Trooper Porter had served overseas on operations with both these units.

A military bearer party comprising seven of his mates were on hand to honour their fallen comrade.

At the conclusion of the service the honour guard fired three volleys and the bugler played the last post in tribute to the passion of one of the nation's finest soldiers.
