Black Hawks conduct counter-terrorism training in Sydney
17 December 2007
In the midst of a week of heavy storms, 171 Aviation Squadron Black Hawk training was conducted in the heart of the city of Sydney.
Many onlookers watched as three Black Hawks stationed out of Holsworthy Barracks made fast approaches on the rooftop of Defence Plaza.
The exercises provided the pilots and crew of the Black Hawks vital training in counter-terrorism exercises.
The specialist training is undertaken three times a year, twice in Sydney and once in Melbourne.
Urban and rural training in a variety of different environments provides 171 Aviation Squadron the highest level of expertise required if called upon for counter-terrorist activity.
